This book of Scripture is largely avoided by people, except for the first two chapters (and maybe the last one). Job is the one person that no one would ever want to be! He has become the quintessential example of the sufferer in despair. He stands against everything you've ever been told about the Victorious Christian Life! This guy had issues that perplexed him, issues of the deepest kind, issues that people have struggled with since the beginning of time, and issues that the book of Job doesn't provide answers for.
From the teaching series Job Meets Jesus
| Job 1 (NKJV™) | |
| 1 | There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil. |
| 2 | And seven sons and three daughters were born to him. |
| 3 | Also, his possessions were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very large household, so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the East. |
| 4 | And his sons would go and feast in their houses, each on his appointed day, and would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. |
| 5 | So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, "It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." Thus Job did regularly. |

Who We Are:
We pursue the God who is passionately pursuing a lost world; we do this with one another, through worship, by the Word, to the world.
What We Do:
Upreach
We express our adoration of Jesus through dynamic worship and uncompromised obedience.
Inreach
We explain the relevance of the Bible to empower and transform lives for service.
Outreach
We extend hope to a hurting world by proclaiming the gospel and demonstrating Christ's love.
Our Beliefs
We Believe that there is one living and true GOD, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all.
We Believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired, without error in the original manuscripts, and the infallible rule of faith and practice.
We Believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in Holiness, wisdom, power, and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through faith in Jesus Christ.
We Believe in Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit.
We Believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teaching, His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal, visible return to earth.
We Believe in the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; and to regenerate, sanctify and empower all that believe in Jesus Christ for ministry.
We Believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding Helper, Teacher, and Guide.
We Believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the Biblical gifts of the Holy Spirit.
We Believe that all people are sinners by nature and choice and, therefore, are under condemnation; that God regenerates by the Holy Spirit, those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord.
We Believe that Jesus Christ baptizes the seeking believer with the Holy Spirit and empowers the believers for service, often subsequent to regeneration.
We Believe in the universal church, the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the head, and all regenerated persons are members.
We Believe that Jesus committed two ordinances to the church: 1) Baptism and, 2) the Lord's Supper. We believe in baptism by immersion and communion open to all believers.
We Believe also in the laying on of hands for baptism of the Holy Spirit, for ordination of pastors, elders, and deacons, and receiving from the Holy Spirit through the believer the gift of healing.
We Believe in the personal, visible return of Christ to the earth and the establishing of His Kingdom, in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment and eternal blessing of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked.
We Believe in what is termed the Apostles Creed as embodying the fundamental facts of Christian faith.

At Calvary we believe that giving is a matter of the heart and that each person should give according to what they believe the LORD has purposed in their hearts.
We do not take a formal offering at Calvary, however there are brown wooden boxes (Agape boxes) located in and around the sanctuary for your gifts, offerings, and prayer requests. Below you will find resources to help you in the giving process.

Plagued by disease and living with multiple losses in his life, Job was also accused of sin by his friends. He asks the eternal question, "How can a man be righteous before God?" and he laments that there is no mediator between man and God. It wasn't until Jesus came that the mediator, the solution for man's unrighteousness, was revealed. In his new series, "Job Meets Jesus," Pastor Skip Heitzig examines the universal questions raised by the patriarch, and presents the hope voiced by Job, "I know that my Redeemer lives."
